In February 2025, B’SOT was released—an EP that captures MikiMAC’s anger, frustration, and disillusionment with the current state of Ethiopia. The album blends Ethio-jazz, afro-funk, rock, and reggae, creating a sound that reflects the emotional and political turmoil he feels. The groovy afro-funk rhythms, hard-hitting Ethio-jazz melodies, and rebellious rock undertones create a potent backdrop for MikiMAC’s deep, soulful voice, which conveys the anger and bitterness of his lyrics.
B’SOT is a visceral expression of dismay toward Ethiopia’s ongoing struggles—war, poverty, and political instability. The leaders, driven by self-interest and ego, seem indifferent to the suffering of their people. The album reflects this deep frustration and the sense of betrayal MikiMAC feels as he watches his homeland fall deeper into chaos. There is no hope or vision for the future in the music; instead, the lyrics convey a feeling of hopelessness and the emotional toll of living in a broken system.
Among the intense anger and frustration, “Saba” stands as a love track—a brief moment of softness amidst the chaos. While the rest of B’SOT is consumed with disillusionment, “Saba” offers a fleeting sense of warmth and longing, contrasting the emotional weight of the other songs.
Throughout B’SOT, MikiMAC reflects on the constant frustrations of life in Ethiopia & the EP becomes an expression of deep dismay not only toward the leadership but also toward society as a whole, including himself. It is a painful realization that everyone, at some point, has been complicit in the suffering—either by turning a blind eye or by being indifferent to the pain of others. There’s an awareness of how the collective ignorance, selfishness, and ego have contributed to the ongoing injustice and carelessness. MikiMAC recognizes that the lack of action, the apathy, and the pursuit of individual gain have all played a part in maintaining a system that continues to exploit and disregard the people. This disillusionment is not just about the political leaders, but about how the selfishness and complacency of all—himself included—have allowed the suffering to persist. There is no promise of redemption or change, just the painful reality of being trapped in a system built on ego and ignorance.
